Covid-19 Protocol

We thank you for your patience and understanding and for all of your continued support. We are offering a service as reliable as always, with all possible safety precautions taken.

If you or someone in your household has been or may have been exposed to Covid-19, you must let us know prior to service.

Please share any suggestions with us, as this is a “living” document and we will revise as often as needed.

Covid-19 Protocol Questionnaire for our Clients

Please complete this brief SURVEY.

Your answers will help us build a more personalized protocol that fits your needs.

Team Safety Training

In anticipation of preparing our team for a safe return to work, we have consulted with resources from the CDC, DOL, OSHA, WHO and the State of NJ for guidance.

We will be conducting virtual training for our staff for all new protocol, and we will continue to do so as policies are updated.

PPE has been purchased for the Canine Concierge team and is available to them as needed.  Any PPE you choose to provide for our team is above and beyond and greatly appreciated.

Private 1:1 Dog Walks

As always, we will continue to provide personalized 1:1 service.  This means we will only walk one dog at a time, or multiple dogs only from within the same household.  Our policy always errs on the side of socially distancing ourselves from other dogs while on a walk, for the safety of our dogs and walkers.  We will continue to uphold this policy and socially distance at least 6 feet from anyone passing by.

Face Masks

Face masks will be worn by our staff inside your home and in your yard.  It is up to the discretion of the walker to wear it while off your property on a walk.  Social distancing will be enforced within and outside of your home.  We ask that you respectfully stay within 6 feet of your walker or wear a face mask if you need to come in closer contact.

Hand Sanitizer/Hand Washing

Our staff will be provided with hand sanitizer which they will use before entering your home and after exiting your home, at a minimum.  If there is a sink available, our staff may need to utilize it if their hands are visibly soiled.  Any surfaces touched will be disinfected. According to the CDC, the exact contribution of hand hygiene to the reduction of the direct and indirect spread of coronaviruses between people is currently unknown. However, hand washing mechanically removes pathogens and laboratory data demonstrate that alcohol-based sanitizer in the range of recommended concentrations inactivate SARS-CoV-2.

Disinfecting Surfaces

As always, we will carry an EPA-registered household disinfectant and other cleaning products with us to sanitize surfaces as needed.  Any surfaces that our staff touch or handle will be wiped down or sprayed with disinfectant.

Shoe Policy

When we enter your home, we will remove our shoes if we are going further than the front door area.  If you prefer our staff to utilize shoe coverings, please feel free to provide them near the front door and we will use them while inside your home, and dispose of them in a hygienic manner.

Leash Policy

We will have leashes available to all of our walkers that they can use and sanitize after each walk.  If you prefer they use a leash you provide, it will be sanitized before and after each use.  We ask that you leave the leash close to the front door, along with other supplies that might be needed during a visit.

Bathroom Policy

There is a possibility that your walker may need to use your bathroom while at your home, as our line of work has us on the road for many hours straight.  Please let us know if there is a designated bathroom they may use.  All areas used will be disinfected per our policy above, before and after use.  We will adhere to the strictest rules of hygiene while on your premises.

Daily Symptom Check

Before heading to any visit for the day, our staff will need to complete the following self-check:

How are you feeling today?

Are you experiencing any symptoms?

Is your temperature above normal?

Have you been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19?

Is anyone is your household sick or showing symptoms of illness?

Yard Pick Up & Drop Off

If you prefer we not enter your home at all, we are happy to arrange our version of “curbside” pick up.  If you are at home, and can safely leave your dog in your yard, we can pick them up and return them to your yard after their walk–weather permitting, of course.  You can also meet us at the front steps, curb, or whatever your comfort level, and hand them off to us.  Your walker will contact you shortly before arrival, so you will have time to prepare.

Contact-Free Indoor Pick Up & Drop Off

With your permission, we will continue to come inside to pick up your dog for their walk.  Please leave all pet-related items as close to the entry door as possible.  Please have your dog’s collar and harness on if possible (unless they are crated). If you are home, we ask that you remain 6 feet from your walker and refrain from lengthy conversations in confined areas.  We also ask that if you need to speak to your walker, please consider wearing a mask for their safety.

How can you help keep us safe?

If you are on the day’s schedule for an in-home visit, please complete a daily self-check, similar to what our employees are doing in order to keep you safe.  If you answer “yes” to any of the following, please contact our office immediately.

  • Are you experiencing any symptoms* of Covid-19?
  • Is your temperature above normal?
  • Have your or a family (household) member been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19?
  • Does anyone in your household have any symptoms* of Covid-19?

*Symptoms include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, tightness in chest, sore throat, loss of taste and or smell.

In summary, we will keep you and your household safe by:

  • Conducting a daily symptom check and taking sick leave as needed
  • Sanitizing our hands before entering and upon exiting premises
  • Wearing a face mask when inside  your home or when social distancing is not attainable
  • Sanitizing the dog leash before and after use
  • Disinfecting any surfaces inside your home that we come in contact with
  • Abiding by your request for yard pick up, or by staying within certain confines of your home
  • Wearing shoe covers or gloves, per your request
